Joni and Friends Daily Devotional 1st August 2022 Monday Message

TOPIC: Scriptural Anchors

MESSAGE

After 55 years of quadriplegia, I am stunned at how good God’s been to me; how he has sustained me, and comforted me and encouraged me.  And God has done this, mainly, through “anchors” from Psalm 119.  Verse 92 says, “If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction.”

Honestly, that’s so true, I would’ve perished had not God’s promises been my delight. Then verse 107 says, “I have suffered much; preserve my life, O Lord, according to your word.”

When I’m in deep pain, I say to God then, “preserve me through this; you’re good on your word I know you are, so I’m expecting that you’ll get me through this!” And just look: both those verses focus on the hope-giving power of the Word.  If you want to keep your head above your afflictions, get a grip on the Word of God. Today, hold tight to his promises. They are your anchors through every storm.
