Mountain Top Life MFM Daily Devotional 18th July 2021 Devotional Guide Written By Dr. D.K Olukoya

TOPIC: Sacrificial Giving (ii)

2 Sam. 24:22-24

Memory Verse
Jn. 3:16 – “For God so love the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whatsoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life”.

Giving is the key to God’s prosperity. If you want God to bless you, then give. God is the Ultimate Giver. He gave us first by giving His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. God’s love is not static or self-centred. It reaches out and draws others in. God set the pattern of true love. When you love someone clearly, you will be willing to give freely to the point of self-sacrifice. God paid dearly with the life of His Son, which is the highest price or gift He could give.

Sacrificial giving invokes blessings; it draws you closer to God and makes God act on your behalf; it takes you out of ordinary to extraordinary status or position. Abraham gave and God blessed him. He received abundant blessings because he obeyed God. Abraham’s blessings overflowed to all his descendants, and that includes you. Today you can sing “Abraham’s blessings are mine…”. This is as a result of his sacrificial giving (Gen. 22:12).

The widow of Zarephath gave all and she was blessed; the Shunnamite woman gave. Not only did she receive the gift of a son, but she also received the miracle of restoration to life for her son. David decided to give an offering to God with something that will cost him something.

As a result of this, the Lord was intreated for the land, and the plague stayed from Israel (2 Sam. 24:24-25). In Luke 21:1-4, the widow gave all she had and caught the attention of Jesus Christ.

Jesus admired her generous and sacrificial giving. The disciples forsook all and followed Jesus and got the promise of eternal life with Him (Lk.5:11; Mk. 1:18). Jesus assured the disciples that anyone who gives up something valuable for His sake will be repaid a hundred times in this life (Mk. 10:29-30). When you give, don’t live as if you are giving to a beggar. Give God your best and He will give you back a hundredfold. You can never outgive God and you cannot make Him a debtor.

Remember, when you give, you receive. Givers never lack. The first key to receiving from God is to seek His kingdom and its righteousness; then your gifts will be acceptable and in return, every other thing will be added unto you.

Motivational Quote
To get more, give more. It is the generous giving that produces a generous harvest.

Prophetic Word
Your sacrificial giving will speak favour and blessing for you, in the name of Jesus.

HYMN – There shall be showers of blessing

  1. “There shall be showers of blessing”
    This is the promise of love;
    There shall be seasons refreshing,
    Sent from the Saviour above.

Showers of blessing,
Showers of blessing we need;
Mercy drops round us are falling,
But for the showers, we plead.

  1. “There shall be showers of blessing”
    Precious reviving again;
    Over the hills and the valleys,
    Sound of abundance of rain.
  2. “There shall be showers of blessing”
    Send them upon us, O Lord;
    Grant to us now a refreshing,
    Come and now honour Your Word.
  3. “There shall be showers of blessing”
    O that today they might fall,
    Now as to God we’re confessing,
    Now as on Jesus we call!

1. Lord, accept me and my offering, in the name of Jesus.
2. O Lord, I give you my heart. Accept it by Your mercy, in the name of Jesus Christ.
3. Holy Spirit, open my eyes to see the vanity in the things of the world and the reality of the treasure of heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ.

4. Every stronghold of the love of the world and its trea sure, manipulating my spirit man, die now, in the name of Jesus Christ.
5. I shall not follow the path of destruction, in the name of Jesus Christ
6. Power contending with God over the treasure of my heart, die now, in the name of Jesus.
7. Lord, lead me through the way of Calvary, in the name of Jesus Christ.

Psalms 108-114
