Mountain Top Life MFM Daily Devotional For October 18 2021; Monday Devotional Message Written By Dr D.K Olukoya (PMCH) – Life From The Life Of Nehemiah

TOPIC: Life From The Life Of Nehemiah

“Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?” – Psalm 85:5

Neh. 8: 9-10

God always uses spiritually and morally strong leaders to revive His awareness in His people’s hearts whenever they backslide. After David was anointed King in Israel, he realised a truth only God-fearing leaders know. In 2 Sam. 5:12, the Bible says, “And David perceived that the Lord had established him king over Israel and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel’s sake.”

David’s perception is deeply rooted in his fear of God as His benefactor to the Kingship. He never thought he was any better than everyone else in Israel as the reason for his election to the throne. This made God to love him. This much can be said for Nehemiah.

Despite his exalted position as a very close aide to King Artaxerxes, he did not lose sight of the fact that God got him there for His purpose and not for him to feel good.

He led the Jews to a great revival of God’s knowledge that made them to feel sorry for their past misconduct and made a commitment to serve Him better. What did Nehemiah do in this regard? He purified the Priesthood and rid it of strangers (Neh. 7:46).

He inspired the renewal of the covenant of God with the Jews (Neh. 8:1-7). He led them to deep repentance. (Neh. 9:1). He secured the people’s commitment to respect the law of God and to abide by its demands on them (Neh. 10:29). He created an atmosphere of peace and security for the Jews to repopulate Jerusalem (Neh. 11:1-3). Jerusalem was no longer forsaken. It became ‘BEULAH’, that is married (Isaiah 62:4).

He reformed the Jewish social life in accordance with the law of God. This includes treating strangers politely because they were also strangers in Egypt and ensuring the House of God was properly catered for in service by the priests and Levites. He also enforced marital reforms in which he contended against mixed marriages for priests and Levites.

In conclusion, Nehemiah’s revival and reformative work brought joy to the people as they were led to walk and please God. For this, he prayed, ‘Remember me, O my God, for good” (Neh. 13:31). The question is what are you going to tell God to remember you for?

True revival comes from a realisation of failed responsibility on our part in our walk with God, and a willingness to correct this failure in order to reconcile with Him.

I decree upon your life that the mighty hand of God shall continuously rest upon you for good in Jesus name.

HYMN: There Is A Name I Love To Hear

  1. There is a name I love to hear,
    I love to sing its worth;
It sounds like music in my ear,
    The sweetest name on earth.

O, how I love Jesus,
|O, how I love Jesus,
O how I love Jesus
Because He first loved me!

  1. It tells me of a Savior’s love,
    who died to set me free;
It tells me of His precious blood,
    The sinner’s perfect plea.
  2. It tells me what my Father hath
    In store for ev’ry day,
And, tho I tread a darksome path,
    Yields sunshine all the way.

  3. It tells of One whose loving heart
    Can feel my deepest woe,
Who in each sorrow bears a part
    That none can bear below.

1. I reject spiritual dullness, in the name of Jesus.
2. O God, arise and strengthen my bones to rise up to my responsibilities in your expectations, in the name of Jesus.
3. I shall walk in the joy of my destiny fulfilment, in the name of Jesus.

1. Any power attacking the promises of God for my life, fail, in the name of Jesus.
2. Every circle of failure pulling me down when I am rising, break by fire, in the name of Jesus.
3. Ancestral bloodline battles that are pressing me down, die, in the name of Jesus.
4. I receive fire to walk in holy revival in every area of my life, in the name of Jesus.
