Mountain Top Life MFM Daily Devotional For 3rd October 2021; Sunday Devotional Message Written By Dr D.K Olukoya (PMCH)

TOPIC: Unhealthy Self Esteem (I) (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Devotional 3 October 2021)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Genesis 1:26-27, Psalm 139:13-17, 1 Peter 4:4-10

Genesis 1:26-27:
26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and overall the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Psalm 139:13-17:
13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.

14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

15 My substance was not hidden from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!

1 Peter 4:4-10:
4 Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:

5 Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.

6 For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.

7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.

8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

9 Use hospitality one to another without grudging.

10 As every man hath received the gift, even so, minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

MEMORY VERSE: “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.” – Psalms 139:14

Always remember that you are one amazing person created in God’s image, for His pleasure, full of potentials and incredibly precious before Him.

Self-esteem can simply be defined as having healthy confidence in oneself. It is a revealer of the true source of your worth and an evaluation of your abilities. It involves your level of self-love, self-dignity, self-respect and self-honour. Summarily, it is what you think and how you feel about yourself!

Contrarily, it becomes low, poor or unhealthy self-esteem, when self-evaluation is done with a poor assessment of yourself by yourself and sometimes through the eyes of others. While the person with healthy self-esteem thrives healthier, the other suffers poor health in all areas of life: physically, emotionally, socially, and even spiritually.

Unhealthy self-esteem affects the total health of its victim because it emanates from within the person (Proverbs 23:7). It centres around the self and makes the person to be consumed with himself. The truth is that no one can make you inferior without your consent. It all starts and ends with you. The best person to correctly define who you are is you, in line with the Almighty God, your Creator.

MFM Daily Devotional 3 October 2021 (PMCH)

As a child of God, it is important that you begin your self-evaluation with God in mind. You didn’t create yourself. God did (Genesis 1:26-27). The manufacturer has the blueprint of his product and the operation manual. He is best at giving the first-hand information about the viability and durability of the product. The same goes for humans. We are made in the image of God and as such our self-evaluation should be within the divine perspective, nothing more. To think or do otherwise will amount to sin! Everything created by God is good (Genesis 1:31). You are fearfully and wonderfully made.

If any distortion or damage arises, the Potter is ready to remould the clay and will bring out a better and more beautiful vessel. Nothing is ever wasted or fit to be discarded in His sight. You are precious in His sight!

Self-love starts with loving God and seeing yourself through His eyes. You are precious in His sight. Everything about you is not a mistake. He has a good reason for making you who you are and what you are. You cannot be like another because it takes divine wisdom to create you differently. The best thing: begin to appreciate God! Stop the self-pity trip! You are a peculiar person!
