Open Heaven 23rd September 2021 Daily Devotional, Thursday By Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Blessings Of The New Anointing

TOPIC: Blessings Of The New Anointing

MEMORISE: And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. Revelation 21:5

READ: John 4:19-24

  1. The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
  2. Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
  3. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh when ye shall neither in this mountain nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
  4. Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
  5. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
  6. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

The Bible says in Jeremiah 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah. Jesus Christ is the foundation of the new anointing; He makes things new, including our ways of life and worship. This is the truth that Jesus explained to the woman He spoke with at the well in Samaria, according to our Bible reading of today. The woman was arguing for the old dispensation but Jesus said:

“Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.”

“John 4:22-23”

Before Jesus Christ ascended to be with His Father, He promised His disciples the power of the Holy Ghost Acts 1:5, Acts 1:8. The coming of the Holy Ghost brought a new anointing. One thing the new anointing does is that it convicts us of sin, according to John 16:7-8. Another thing to note is that your anointing needs to be updated or else it becomes obsolete. How do we renew or update our anointing? The Bible says And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God (Romans 12:2 ).

The Scripture above clearly tells us that (1) we must not conform to this world as it brings new ideas and the philosophy of men to derail us, (2) rather, we must be transformed as we had conformed prior to our salvation, according to 2 Corinthians 5:17,

(3) we must do this by the renewing of our minds against the old ways of life we are used to, (4) by this, we will be able to distinguish good from evil and (5) ultimately, we shall safely arrive at the perfect will of God for our lives. With the renewed anointing, we are shielded from seducing and lying spirits. We are properly groomed into all godliness without having to struggle on our own, according to Zechariah 4:6 Surrender your life to Jesus Christ, not only as the Saviour from sin but also as the Lord of your life. Only then can the blessings of the new anointing be yours.

KEY POINT: Activate the new anointing upon your life by praying in Jesus name, for the baptism of the Holy Ghost.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Proverbs 19:1-29

HYMN: I need thee every hour

  1. I need thee every hour,
    most gracious Lord;
    no tender voice like thine
    can peace afford.

I need thee, O I need thee;
every hour I need thee!
O bless me now, my Saviour,
I come to thee.

  1. I need thee every hour,
    stay thou near by;
    temptations lose their power
    when thou art nigh.

  2. I need thee every hour,
    in joy or pain;
    come quickly, and abide,
    or life is vain.
  3. I need thee every hour;
    teach me thy will,
    and thy rich promises
    in me fulfil.
