TODAY’S READING

John 14:23-27

KEY VERSE: Jesus said, “It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.” – John 16:7 (KJV)

MESSAGE

Understanding our challenges can enable us to overcome them. I am proud to be able to testify to this truth. I have encountered many challenges in my life; but the only times I have been able to overcome them were when I understood the root of the problem and trusted in the Lord to help me through.

Knowing that it was not going to be an easy journey, Jesus assured the disciples that they would not be left alone; the Holy Spirit would be their comforter during difficult times, providing peace and consolation in the midst of struggle. This is the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives — to lessen our worry and to calm our fear.

I believe that God wants us to know we are not alone — we have the Holy Spirit to comfort, teach, and renew our trust in God. We can trust God and watch for the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives.
