SOLDIER FIELD — Kanye West hosted his new album listening party Thursday night, 26th August 2021, at Soldier Field — and he’s bringing a piece of his childhood with him.
His “Donda” album, which is expected out Friday, is named after his mother, Donda West, who died in 2007 at age 58.
For Thursday’s show, West built a replica of the South Shore home where he spent eight years growing up. He bought the home at 7815 S. South Shore Dr. last year for about $225,000 and is renovating it.
The replica home was built on a stage at Soldier Field’s 50-yard line.
Gates were opened at 7 p.m and the show began at 9 p.m. There will be traffic control aides on hand to direct cars. The Office of Emergency Management and Communications is encouraging people to use public transportation.
Masks are optional for vaccinated people outdoors but are recommended for the unvaccinated. Both vaccinated and unvaccinated people are required to wear masks indoors. Seating is reduced to 38,000 for the event.
