A 14-Year-Old Pentecostal Girl Was Kidnapped & Forced To Marry Captor In Pakistan

According to a story, another teenage girl in Pakistan has been kidnapped and forced to convert to Islam and marry her Muslim kidnapper, and authorities have allegedly been hesitant to act.

Mahnoor Ashraf, a 14-year-old Pentecostal Christian, has been missing since she left her house in Lahore’s Cantonment district in Punjab province on Jan. 4 with her 8-year-old nephew for a neighboring shop, according to Morning Star News.

Mahnoor’s parents were later informed by the nephew that their Muslim neighbor, Muhammad Ali Khan Ghauri, 45, had abducted her with the help of his pals.

When Mahnoor’s father, Ashraf Masih Chaudhry, went to the accused kidnapper’s house, he was told that his son had been missing since then.

Mahnoor’s older brother, Akram Masih Chaudhry, was quoted as stating, “Ghauri’s house is on the same street, and our families were on good terms.” “We have no idea when he was able to entice Mahnoor into a relationship.”

The kidnapper is married with two kids.

Chaudhry then filed a police report, but the investigating officer took a long time to respond, according to Akram, who added that Ghauri’s relatives notified them on Jan. 7 that Mahnoor had supposedly converted to Islam and married Ghauri on Jan. 4, the day she was kidnapped.

Muhammad Waqas, Raza Ali, and Muhammad Imran have been identified as Ghauri’s acquaintances who reportedly assisted in the kidnapping. Muhammad Ibrar, a local cleric who performed the Islamic marriage while knowing she was a juvenile, has been identified.

Mahnoor’s age is shown as 19 on her marriage certificate, although her birth certificate lists her year of birth as 2007.

“Nothing is being done by the police to find Mahnoor,” Akram was reported as adding.

Hundreds of women and girls from Pakistan’s Hindu and Christian communities are abducted, forcibly married, and converted to Islam every year, according to a 2014 report by The Movement for Solidarity and Peace Pakistan

“Many victims are minors stolen from their families, sexually attacked, married to an assailant, and held in captivity justified by forced marriage and conversion certificates,” stated International Christian Concern, a persecution watchdog based in the United States. “Violence, intimidation, and grooming tactics are used to persuade victims to testify in court in behalf of their captors.”

The US State Department has designated Pakistan as a “country of particular concern” for tolerating or perpetrating serious breaches of religious freedom.
