Top 20 Best Bible Verses On Warfare Prayers

Throughout the entire period of the Bible, war was a fairly common concept and literal event. Both the Old and New Testaments of the Bible refer to physical and spiritual conflict but with emphasis on the fact that without

God’s blessing, individuals or nations that engaged in conflict rarely came victorious. Likewise, those who fought for just causes and put their faith in God also received favor and gained victory over their opponent notwithstanding the number of armies they had.

In the letter of Apostle Paul to the people of Ephesians chapter 6, he specifically addressed the spiritual basis of our struggle against evil. It is paramount that all who stand for good must wage a constant battle with the forces of evil. For the demons still have power in the world until Christ comes again in glory.

Hence, he reveals and speaks deeply on the “full armor of God” in Ephesians Chapter 6. He described this full armor of God as the weapon of defense and inspiration during spiritual combat.

What is the Biblical overview of Warfare?

Warfare cannot be efficiently discussed in Christendom without a close look at the origin of the warfare which is the battle that took place in heaven as recorded in Revelation 12:7–10 where the Archangel Michael led battle against those led by “the dragon”, identified as the devil or Satan.

In this battle, Michael defeated the dragon and was thrown down to earth and this brought trouble to earth as recorded in Revelation 12:12 “Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe for the earth and the sea: because the devil is gone down unto you, having great wrath, knowing that he hath but a short time.” Since this time the devil has been waging war against the inhabitants of earth with more focus on righteous people.

But these righteous people were not left to defend and fight back without being given weapons for spiritual warfare by which they could fight and be victorious.

In the book of Ephesians Chapter 6 verses 11-18 Apostle Paul wrote to the people of Ephesians describing the spiritual warfare weapons both defensive and offensive.

What is the Biblical overview of Warfare?

In his explanation, he makes it clear that the battle is not against flesh and blood. Hence he advises Christians to be fully armed. He said in verse; [11] Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

[12] For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

[13] Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

He further make a clear pictorial image of the whole armour relating it to the world of God from verse 14-18, verses 14-17a are defensive weapon while 17b is an offensive weapon.

Aside from Ephesians 6, numerous biblical references are on warfare that can ensure Christian victory in all battles of life.

LORD, what are human beings that you care for them, mere mortals that you think of them?

They are like a breath; their days are like a fleeting shadow.

Part your heavens, LORD, and come down; touch the mountains, so that they smoke.

Send forth lightning and scatter the enemy; shoot your arrows and rout them.

Reach down your hand from on high; deliver me and rescue me from the mighty waters, from the hands of foreigners

whose mouths are full of lies, whose right hands are deceitful.

I will sing a new song to you, my God; on the ten-stringed lyre, I will make music to you,
