James 2:14-18

KEY VERSE: Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. – 1 Peter 4:10 (NIV)

MESSAGE

I was in shock when, in my late twenties, my life came to an abrupt halt because of a significant injury to my lower back. However, during this time God showed me what the body of Christ can do when it puts faith and deeds together in the service of others. Without my requesting it, members of the church I had been attending began arriving with meals, attending to my grocery shopping, gardening, housecleaning, and laundry. They drove me to appointments and came by to talk or pray with me. Month after month — indeed for the next few years — faithful people of all ages attended to my physical, social, and spiritual needs.
