No less than 30 persons have been confirmed dead in a stampede at a shop free programme organized by Kings Assembly Church HQ Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The Shopping free and charity programme has been an annual tradition in the church over the years, but this time was scheduled to hold at the Rivers State Polo Club. Police spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the casualty figure.

What Caused The Stampede in Kings Assembly Programme?
Guests began to arrive at the venue as early as 3: AM for a 9: AM event, and met the gate the locked. At about 8 am, some sportsmen and trainers arrived and opened the small entrance to have their training session, only for the crowd to invade in their numbers to access the venue properly. Then the tragedy occurred when the large crowd of people attempted to push through a small entrance.

The issue has been taken over by the state police and a warrant has been sent to arrest the presiding Pastor Chris Ugoh. This is for further investigation and questioning about the incident, No arrest has been made at the time of this publication. The services of the Police force were not engaged prior to this and therefore the Kings Assembly Church has to take full responsibility for this.
